Special Tuesday Edition Preach: “Step up, or Step Off” I recently had a good phone conversation with my older brother about life. He was recently returning from a body building competition and I have been working on an intense multi year project that we both respectfully found both challenging. We talked about the level of competition , young and old and even our own lives to this point. The one thing I pulled away from our conversation is: “Step up or Step off” Now I know when looking at the word by itself it can actually come of cocky/ intimidating? Maybe one pictures an over aggressive drill sergeant yelling at a recruit to do the exercise? For me it means something totally different. It has to do more with “selflessness” or even perhaps the word “selfish” In our own dreams and visions we picture ourselves excelling right? In our judgment of people we see them excelling as well, right? Tell me when Payton Manning of the Denver Broncos throws a touchdown we are not elated!! But if he throws an interception then “ Come on Payton! Get your Stuff together!” As if we were his Quartback’s coach? Like we were with him all week preparing for Sundays game! The 200 plus throws in practice, film breakdown, running, lifting, etc…How many times today are we caught up in talking about things rather then doing things with our lives? Maybe Nike said it best when they rolled out there campaign years back “Just do It” Today many want to do something special or we are encouraging people to do something with there lives right? But what are we doing??? Well guess what we have to do more then just talk about it! If we are going to do it, then do it! Don’t be selfish if your not?? Get out of the way!!! because there is someone behind you (hungry) ready to step up! If we are going to judge people do we hold the same requirement ourselves? Have you even achieved what your telling somebody else to do? Lead from the front! If we are gonna talk about it be about it, lets be about it! Maybe my Mom said it best ☺ “Piss or get off the pot!” lol “ Step up or Step off”! Lets go! We can do it!
