Special Weather Statement, National Weather Service of Kansas City. A storm system currently located over the desert southwest united States will progressively move over the area through Saturday night, bringing The potential for winter weather. Precipitation is expected to move into portions of the area tonight into early Saturday morning. The potential exists for a narrow strip of light freezing rain to occur where surface temperatures can remain below the freezing mark as the precipitation falls. Currently, this Narrow corridor is most likely to occur from Kansas City to Saint Joseph to Kirksville, where a light glazing of ice is possible. There still remains some uncertainty to the forecast, but prepare for the potential for minor ice accumulations and exercise Caution on area roadways early Saturday morning. An additional round of wintry weather is expected to develop over much of the area Saturday afternoon and evening. Periods of light to moderate snowfall are expected, with total snowfall accumulations of 2 to 3 inches along and north of a Leavenworth to Chillicothe Line, with lesser amounts to the south.
