Special information to the new students under The turkish government Scholarship.first of all congratulation and welcome to Turkey.when you come here you will be awaited at the airport. Make sure that you have a lot of passport size photos . approximately 30.This is so because each step will require passport photos. Make sure when you come here to start registering at your hostels, then go to your university or where you will be doing your Turkish Language Courses for registration.Tell them to give more papers since they will be required for residential permit .When doing registration go with somebody who knows Turkish. You will also be required to pay residential permit money approximately 100 US dollars so be prepared for this.Your residential permit will be out for approximately 3 weeks or one month.This money will be refunded to you by the Turkish government sholarship team (YTB) usually after three months. Here you will be residing in the government dormitories and everything is provided such as food,free fast internet, washing machines,refregirators and others.interms of food they only provide two meals, thus break fast and supper.But you can pay extra for food. In some rooms esppecially the new dormitories you may find rooms for two students or four while the old dormitories may have more sometimes. Transportation here is very nice and comfortable you can use goverment buses ,trains or ships which are subsidised for students.Many universities have shopping malls near by.Aircraft from city to city is also very cheap. Turkey value culture too much make sure to bring your national clothes for wearing during the International cultural events .Here there are many students organisations or clubs make sure to join them. Here you will be required to learn Turkish Language and its a prerequisite even if you will be placed in an English instructed university.So make sure to work hard in this.If you already know Turkish language you will have an exam to test your abiliy and if you qualify you can proceed with your university programe. As you will be coming here make sure to learn some basic Turkish words since most of people here speak Turkish and its very rare to meet somebody who speak English .Here make sure to meet fellow International Students for more guidance and direction. Make sure to bring at list a certain amount of money to be used before you start receiving your scholarship.Normally within some few weeks your scholarship money will be out. Please prefer public transport as taxis are very much expensive and in the beginning check your spending since everything here is expensive as there is high life style.
