During the Reign of Terror, when the Bintang Tiga were on a witch hunt, Mamak Osman hid him in a huge almeira in his Assam Kumbang house. I have seen the huge almeira. Mamak Osman was also one of the earliest successful entrepreneurs of Taiping, just like Pak Khalid, the father of Badri Khalid. In 1967 or so, my sister Ayesha rented the upstairs of Mamak Osmans shophouse along Station Road, Taiping. Alfatihah to all our dear ones.
