Spending time with God – (Part 25) There was a time in my life when I use to travel around on a motorbike a lot. I’m still a motorbike fan but since I moved to the UK, I was forced to leave that passion behind for obvious reasons. Anybody who knows what the British weather is like would know what I’m talking about. I remember a time when I had just got home from work and I needed to go and see a friend of mine briefly. So I hopped back on my bike and was about to take off when God impressed upon me to take my wallet. I was puzzled why, because I wasn’t going very far and my visit to this friend of mine was gonna be brief. So I didn’t think I would need my wallet but I have learnt if God tells you to do something, it’s in your best interest to do it. So I went back into the house, picked up my wallet, jumped on my bike and I was off. I can’t remember exactly what the purpose of the trip was but I suspect I was taking something along to him. On my way back the engine on my bike suddenly spluttered and stopped, so I pulled over to switch the fuel tank to reserve. Then I remembered that I had already done so previously but had forgotten all about it, so my fuel tank was now empty. These type of bikes don’t come with a fuel gauge but a tap and this tap is hidden from normal view. It didn’t register as I left home that I was running on reserve, but the God that I serve saw ahead of me what was going to happen and warned me about it. What if I had just dismissed it and gone about my business; I would have either had to beg passers-by for some cash to buy fuel or push my bike all the way back home. Neither of the two choices was pretty, so I was so relieved that I responded to God’s prompt and the Filling Station was just a few yards away. How I wish that had been the story of my life thus far, faithfully obeying the voice of my father every time he speaks. But I can tell you that for every one time that I obey, there would be ten times that I have just dismissed Him and done my own thing. The reality is that my God alerts us virtually every time to prepare for issues in advance so we can avoided some of the mess we are now in. If He cares for me that much to alert me about a simple thing like running out of fuel. How much more will he not alert us about life changing issues like our career, our marriage, our health, our finances, etc. But the trouble is that we are so busy rushing around doing our own thing, that we cannot even pause for a moment to acknowledge His presence in our lives. Luke 10:38-42. What’s the point of believing or declaring that He watches over you, (Psalm 33:18) when the life that you live tells a different story? I pray that this week you would turn things around and acknowledge Him in all that you do. God Bless You.
