Spent New Years Eve at the hospital with my husband Bret Ford. He was struggling to breathe since Sunday morning and little did we know he had a huge blood clot blocking both lungs. They call it a saddle pulmonary embolus, I think. They said he probably would have died if his lungs were not so large and also that all the walking we have been doing (him on his knee scooter, me in my back brace lol) contributed to saving his life. Interestingly, we stopped walking exactly a week ago after I fell down hard and hurt myself, then it snowed and snowed and snowed. I wonder if he had kept moving, if all the blood clots they found in his leg would have just dissolved instead of moving to lungs and blocking heart. His heart is swollen from the pressure and his lungs are still partially blocked. ICU was full so he is on the cardiac floor in room 593 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
