Spent New Years visiting our operations in Northern Iraq. Very - TopicsExpress

Spent New Years visiting our operations in Northern Iraq. Very special atmosphere, very special to celebrate New Years Eve in a Kurdish church where half the congregation live in tents or temporal housing having fled ISIL, and knowing that only kilometers away ISIL is beheading and raping all who dont bow to their Islam. It does something to the way you worship. We met tired and sad internally displaced persons who are happy they are alive after having escaped ISIL terror, but they lost all that was their life and they are between chocked and sad. But also very strong and hospitable! We distribute food, and thanks to good hearted people in Norway many refugees living in cold damp rooms, now have warm woollen socks. We need to do more. Especially in trauma healing and especially for women. Please pray for us and our people there. For protection and for enough people. The Kurdish host community is overwhelmingly kind and generous to the refugees/IDPs. The churches have refugee camps in their back yards and many work voluntarily to help distribute matrasses and food. But the helpers are also tired. Its an overwhelming crisis, and with the threat adding, prolonging the traumas. We need more workers and people to teach basic trauma intervention. And more money to train and pay local refugees to work with us. And we need your prayers. Both we and the refugees. We are one. And that hurts. Here are some photos:
