Spent a lot of time there growing up.See that red house in the back?,Thats where my Dad tried to teach me how to handle drink sensibly at 16 years old..i headed his advice and only drink at weddings and funerals.Oh,I forgot,birthdays and Christmas Eve for dinner.And art exhibition openings.Hm;There I also developed the tremendous and lifelong urge to eat herring and pellkartoffeln.The things you remember from your childhood are sometimes very mundane,but they stick with you..The Schnoor a lovely place with a regular showroom for art ,often from Worpswede,the home of painter Paula Becker Modersohn and Heinrich Vogeler.The way you normally entered the Schnoor was through the Boettcher Strasse with imposing wallpieces and sculptures by Bernhard Hoetger.,a sculptor beloved by some of the Nazis.It was said anyway.Me,I mainly cared for the herring fillets in the Flett,a great traditional restaurant there.What did I know?
