Spent a nostalgic day in downtown Dallas visiting the old cafe where I used to work as a cook, 20 years ago. It hasnt changed much since I worked there (even the menu is the same), except that its since become legendary, thanks to Wes Anderson, Owen Wilson and Kumar Pallana, the crazy old yoga master who recently passed away at the age of 94. Cosmic Cafe was cool way before its time, long before yoga became popular and even before vegetarian restaurants were common. It has such an awesome vibe -- nothing else like it in Dallas, or anywhere for that matter. Going back today, I realized how prophetic it was of the life that I would be leading 20 years later. Kumar was by far the best boss I ever had, and Cosmic is still in my mind the greatest cafe in the universe...
