Spent another lovely week in hospital (lovely being my new sarcastic term) and found myself in desperate need of Time Bank friends while there. Unfortunately I had no access to a computer, cell phone or other way to communicate except land line but had no phone numbers. I wonder if someone who loves to organize things would consider making a list of go to people for spur of the moment (that is within a day or so) requests? I needed a ride home and the social worker said they could find one for me no problem. It would only cost me $47.plus change one way from Akron General to Kent. $47.00. I also needed a charging cord for my kindle since that was not on my mind while being carried out by paramedics (dang!) As that was my only form of entertainment during my stay the decreasing bars of memory were a point of anxiety as I am a voracious reader. I thought it would have been great if I had a list of people I could call from the time bank who could coordinate things like that for shut-ins. I am no organizer, but I know we have them. Maybe a group project, where you contact people who offer rides to see if they would be willing to be placed on a short list, or people who could do errands for those who cant for whatever reason do for themselves, but so you have only one or two numbers to call to set things rolling? I was lucky in that my dear friend was available to bring me home-but for others? Anyway, just a thought.
