Spent most of Saturday at the Am. Swedish Inst. as a volunteer watching over the rooms and exhibits and enjoying the guests and friends that came for the Midsommar celebration. The morning was cloudy and a bit humid but OK for the outdoor activities. Lots of kids with faces painted and flower wreaths for anyone who wanted to make one. Singing and dancing around the Maypole, eating and drinking and food, traditional herring plates but no meatballs. Out of this world glass exhibit in the mansion and Oscher gallery by a group of Swedish designers of contemporary works. Then, Boom! about 3PM the clouds darkened and it started to rain, thunder and lightning. Everyone raced in to the Nelson bldg and the Mansion. The guys and gals manning the food and beverage booths and the other activities had to scramble to get everything inside. Lots of chatter and close company. Hard rain and wind for a while, then clearing and sun out by 5PM when everything closed.
