Spent the day at the hospital with Mom, Mike and Mandy. Pauls breathing has been going down hill fast over the last 24 hrs since hes not strong enough to get rid of the junk filling his lungs. The decision needed to be made as to whether or not he should be put on a respirator. After grilling the Dr, it seemed like the best way to go as his blood gas levels were through the roof and not getting better. I was able to talk to Paul, explain exactly what was happening and what they wanted to do. Although he couldnt vocally respond, I asked him to squeeze my hand if he understood..and he did. I then asked him to squeeze my hand twice if this is what he wanted us to do. He gave me two BIG old squeezes which made all the difference knowing he was ok with it and still wants to fight. Ventilator is in and already he is SO much more comfortable. His breathing is better so hopefully his blood gas level gets better to and were on the right path. Prayers still needed....
