Spent the last few days with my sister Jane from Chicago and two of her grandsons: Andrew McGuffey (17) and Alex McGuffey (15). She makes annual or bi-annual trips to NYC with grandchildren to show them the city. The boys were a pleasure to have (how could I say otherwise -- their parents / siblings will read this!!). We walked the Brooklyn Bridge, saw the Wall STreet bull and took the Staten Island ferry on Sunday. Monday, my sister Jane and I joined up with our sister Ann to visit our sister Mary and her husband Larry while Barbara took the boys to Times Square, Rockefeller Center and Grand Army Plaza by the Plaza Hotel, which is now condominiums. Today we went to the Met to view Roman statuary / columns, Greek vases, Cyclodan statues, medieval armor, the American Wing Courtyard and the Temple of Dendor from Nubia. A quick dip into Central Park by the ball fields with a view of midtown from the park, lunch, then the LIRR (they stepped onto the train 1 minute before the door closed - Barbara nearly ended up in Woodside). They fly home via Chicago tomorrow. While the boys are quiet, the house here is, nonetheless, quiet.
