Spent two or so hours sanding the old grill. 320 grit, then 400 grit wet sandpaper, then used the old dependable Mothers polish to rub the hell out of the front edges. The aluminum came out like chrome. You cant beat that stuff. Then used fine line tape to mask off the front edges, and sprayed the rest of the grill satin black. I was very happy how it turned out. You cant tell its 48 years old. :) Put the enameled British flag badge over the hood latch. Painted some inside the grill mouth, and installed the new grill. Love it. Its starting to look complete, but still need to sort the motor out. Think Ill take the Stromberg Carburetors off today, and clean them, and adjust them, then try starting it again to see if it will idle, and run smooth. Be back to work soon, and progress will be a lot slower, so Im glad we were off as long as we were, and to have gotten as much done as I have. Once the motor is running right, that leaves rebuilding or replacing the clutch, and brake master cylinders, brake calipers, probably replace the brake lines with new cooper lines, then cleaning and painting the motor, and whatever. Redoing the wood dash. Going to use a burled or curly walnut like in Rolls Royce. (Cant wait to see that done) and new leather on the steering wheel, and putting the chrome trim on top of the fenders, putting the stainless exhaust system on, and lastly, the new rims, and tires. Sounds like a lot, but a few weekends or days off should be able to scratch off each item on the list. If I get off my ass :p Happy New Year....................
