Spice would like to cordially invite you to the Lacis Giveback Party on 8/14. She sure hopes you will join the party so pups like her have hope when the world is not so kind. lacis4thgiveback.eventbrite/ The hardest part of rescue for our friends to the south is saving them from horrors to deliver them to an uncertain fate in an overcrowded and overburdened shelter system. Spice and her family were saved when 12 dogs were removed from a house. They were living in unsanitary conditions. They did not have adequate food, water or shelter. Attempts were made to educate the owner, dog houses were provided and volunteers were given access to clean up the environment. But when momma was near death, they knew removing them was the only option left. Freed from their living conditions, these dogs found their way into a shelter system already filled to capacity. Her momma was lucky - she found her family, but Spice was facing losing her life so room could be made for the unending arrival of new dogs. At 6 months old, her life was going to end before it began. It is a heartbreaking journey when the rate of those arriving at your doors for help far surpasses your ability to find homes. Everyone involved works hard to find the solutions, but there is still much work to be done. Your support means we were able to step in, with our partners, and move Spice out of the shelter and into a foster home where she was made healthy and whole and prepared for the long journey to our doors where loving families await. Supporting the Lacis Giveback Party means we will be here for dogs like her and give the shelter that cared for her the space they need to help another. In turn, this sweet pup will save the lives of her new family in ways they cannot imagine. Spice will arrive tonight. She will be embraced in the loving and welcoming arms of our volunteers and staff. Her search has already begun for her forever home and while she waits, she has nothing to fear. The uncertainty of her future has been replaced with hope because people like you were willing to donate, to volunteer and to adopt. We hope you will join us 8/14 to celebrate the dogs of Helping Hounds and the generosity of Lacis.
