Spinet piano - Cherry finish. Cleaned cigarette tar with 409 & #0000. Rinse w/ damp cloth. Wood conditioner. Buff. Panel 1 (fallboard) responded well (pic #1). Panel 2 (music desk) developed a cloudy appearance as I was cleaning (Pic #2). I recall that this cloudy finish occurs when water is introduced to some finishes - white rings from potted plants etc. Not familiar with such a rapid development. Humidity might be a factor too, but since it affected one panel and not the other, then the two panels may have been finished differently at the factory (unlikely), or some other reason. Your opinion please...
