Spiritual DNA When we say that the pattern needs to be there first before a resemblance can take place, we are emphasizing that a pattern of knowledge needs to be set in place first before you can take on the nature of Christ. DNA is the pattern that is passed on from parent to offspring that makes the offspring look like the parent. The purpose of this reflection is to teach you about inheritance. As you recognize similar characteristics between you and your parents begin to think about how God planned to accomplish this spiritually, how God planned to return the soul to the likeness of Christ through His spiritual DNA. The purpose of the Elements of the Gospel is to give form to Christ in the inner man. Salvation is about God making it possible for us to inherit the likeness of Christ. Because DNA is unique for each person it can be used to identify people. In the same way, God’s knowledge, His blueprint of truth is unique to Him, and it can be used to identify Christ. God identifies Christ by the 12 Elements of the Gospel. When God looks at you He wants to see a likeness of Himself. The purpose of the Elements of the Gospel is to give form to Christ in the inner man. Salvation is about God making it possible for us to inherit the likeness of Christ. Not only is DNA useful for us to understand likenesses, there is another big eye opener; DNA also encodes a detailed set of plans like a blueprint the body needs to operate. These instructions provide all the information necessary for you to function, grow, and live. DNA in your cells orchestrates the activity for processing food, providing energy, rebuilding cells, and a lot of other things your body needs to do every day to live. We can understand why DNA is called the recipe for life. Nothing happens without this blueprint of life.
