Spiritual and Scriptural Meditation What spiritual and scriptural meditation is NOT… • Spiritual and scriptural meditation is not focused on physical relaxation… • Spiritual and scriptural meditation is not focused on perception of an inner audible voice of any type of spiritual being, even so call God’s audible voice… • Spiritual and scriptural meditation is not focused on excessive praise and giving of thanks chants or music of any kind that works up a so called spiritual and emotional ecstatic experienced… • Spiritual and scriptural meditation is not focused on prayerful consciousness of one’s own creative imagination of so call the person, power, or purpose of God or the LORD Jesus Christ… • Spiritual and scriptural meditation is not focused on perception of being spiritually guided by so called the Spirit into visions, dreams, tongues, or ecstatic and extra biblical experience of any kind… What spiritual and scriptural meditation is… Spiritual and scriptural meditation is focused upon the absolute authority of the Scriptures, the Bible: Psalm 1:1-3 (1) Blessed (happy) is the man that walketh not (separates himself from following after or in) in the counsel (advice) of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way (audience) of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat (assembly) of the scornful (of mockers of God). (2) But his delight (spiritual pleasure) is in the law of the LORD (by way of application, the Word of God); and in his law doth he meditate (ponder deeply about) day and night (Note it is throughout the day we are to meditate upon the Word of God.). (3) And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season (God has a due season for hen reaps if they faint not; Galatians 6:7-9.); his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper (This primarily indicates spiritual, scriptural, and supernatural prosperity. Note the cause and effect aspect to the verses.). Spiritual and scriptural meditation is focused upon the absolute authority of the Scriptures, the Bible, regarding the person of the Saviour LORD Jesus Christ: Hebrews 12:2-3 (2) Looking (perceiving, contemplate) unto Jesus the author (originator) and finisher (completer) of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. (3) For consider (perceive, contemplate) him (The LORD Jesus Christ) that endured such contradiction (disobedience) of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint (QUIT) in your minds (Realize attitudes leads to actions, as belief leads to behaviour.). Spiritual and scriptural meditation is focused upon the absolute authority of the Scriptures, the Bible, regarding the person of the Saviour LORD Jesus Christ, by grace: 1Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace (Grace is God’s unmerited and undeserved favor, goodness, and blessings.) of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. (We cannot legitimately glory in self for anything we have or been blessed with is ultimately because of God’s grace received, by faith.) Spiritual and scriptural meditation is focused upon the absolute authority of the Scriptures, the Bible, regarding the person of the Saviour LORD Jesus Christ, by grace, through faith: Hebrews 11:1; 6 (1) Now faith is the substance (spiritual, scriptural, and supernatural reality or certainty) of things hoped (spiritual, scriptural, and supernatural anticipated or confidence) for, the evidence (spiritual, scriptural, and supernatural proof or conviction) of things not seen (that which exist in the invisible eternal realm of God and, by faith, becomes an earthly reality)… (6) But without faith it is impossible to please him (Faith is spiritually and scripturally absolutely necessary to please God.): for he that cometh to God must believe that he is (Faith believes in God’s eternal existence.), and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Faith believes God rewards those who diligently seek Sovereign God: His will, way, worth, and works, through the Saviour LORD Jesus Christ, by walking after, in, and being filled with the Spirit, in accordance to absolute authority of the Scripture. Spiritual and scriptural meditation is focused upon the absolute authority of the Scriptures, the Bible, regarding the person of the Saviour LORD Jesus Christ, by grace, through faith, by the guidance of the Spirit: 2Corinthians 3:18 But we all (the believer), with open face beholding as in a glass (the mirror of the Scriptures) the (the reflection) glory (His spiritual, scriptural, and supernatural manifestation) of the Lord (Jesus Christ), are changed (spiritual, scriptural, and supernatural) change) (transformed) into the same image from glory to glory (The idea here is progression towards maturity of spiritual and scriptural perfection in the LORD.), even as by the Spirit of the Lord. (As the believer contemplates upon the Scriptures perceiving the reflection of the LORD Jesus Christ, by faith, the Spirit through the Scriptures enables the progressive reality of consistently practicing identification, by faith, with the crucified and risen indwelling LORD Jesus Christ living His resurrected life in and through the believer.) Spiritual and scriptural meditation is focused upon the absolute authority of the Scriptures, the Bible, regarding the person of the Saviour LORD Jesus Christ, by grace, through faith, by the guidance of the Spirit that gathers spiritual, scriptural, and supernatural information using who, what, where, when, why, how questions prayerfully ask of God and answered by God through the insights of Scripture and the influence of the Spirit: Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason (This is to exercise thought regarding a matter. The gathering of information through information gathering questions such as: who, what, where, when, why, and how.) together, saith the LORD Spiritual and scriptural meditation is focused upon the absolute authority of the Scriptures, the Bible, regarding the person of the Saviour LORD Jesus Christ, by grace, through faith, by the guidance of the Spirit that gathers spiritual, scriptural, and supernatural information using who, what, where, when, why, how questions prayerfully ask of God and answered by God through the insights of Scripture and the influence of the Spirit that should produce the spiritual, scriptural, and supernatural reality of the LORD Jesus Christ living His resurrected life in and through the believer for the glory and praise of God: The Apostle Paul’s testimony was and ours should be: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me (We must learn to practice identification or purpose to spiritually and scripturally identify, by faith, with the crucified and risen indwelling Christ. Such will not just happen by spiritual osmosis or spontaneous spiritual, scriptural, and supernatural movement.): and the life (one’s natural human functions) which I now live in the flesh (the body) I live by the faith (Faith is the key that unlocks the spiritual, scriptural, and supernatural reality of practicing identification or purposing to spiritually and scripturally identify, by faith, with the crucified and risen indwelling Christ.) of the Son of God (The title Son of God references the incarnated deity of the LORD Jesus Christ.), who loved me, and gave himself (Jesus Christ sacrificially died for us that we might have eternal life, the forgiveness of sins, and newness of life by practicing identification or purposing to spiritually and scripturally identify, by faith, with the crucified and risen Christ.) for me. Galatians 2:20 (To be able to competently practice this BASIC spiritual and scriptural discipline, it takes choice, confession and forsaking sin or anything else that would hinder such, commitment by faith to surrendering unconditionally, contemplation upon the Scriptures through the Spirit, conforming to the image of Christ, consistency, and claim the reality of such, by faith. Galatians 2:20 is a great verse to make a regular meditation verse and to prayerfully etch it into your spiritual and scriptural mental set or the transforming of your mind, through repetitiously thinking upon it, by God’s grace, through faith. Realize repetition of truth makes truth stick upon the heart of the believer.) Please pray for the H.O.P.E. Ministry: for God’s abundant grace to be upon the local Church plant (H.O.P.E.
