Split may not be panoramically appealing, but what it lacks it - TopicsExpress

Split may not be panoramically appealing, but what it lacks it scenic splendor it makes up for it ancient and Medieval charm. Diocletian’s palace is the heart of the old town. Imagine the Roman Forum filled with apartments, restaurants, hotels, and shops. That’s Diocletian’s palace. It has a great vibe, an energetic appeal, as well as distinct local flavor, as does the Medieval town just outside its perimeters. The Green Market is a must see, with all the produce vendors and local shoppers. Cafes line one side of the market, and make for a authentically local place to grab a refreshment surrounded by retired men wiling away their day drinking coffee and watching passersby. Split, though not as dramatic a city as Dubrovnic, made up for that with a much more distinct local feel. It was well worth a day trip from Hvar.
