Splitting state further into smaller states is totally a fatal - TopicsExpress

Splitting state further into smaller states is totally a fatal idea and in future it will impact India so drastically that I am afraid if India will exit to be known as India that I know. Further division based on language, cultures and tribes will divide India more. Imagine if every community in the country asks for a separate state based on their culture and tradition because in India every community has various types of customs and tradition that they have been following forever and would like to preserve. As a result, Gurjars will ask for Gurjar Pradesh, Rajput will ask for Rajput Pradesh, Brahmin will ask for Brahmin Pradesh and Tyagi will ask for Tyagi Parades and so on. And, it does not reflect unity in diversity; instead it reflects more diversity and no unity. We all know that Germany was also divided into two different parts- east part and west. But now they are united for a long time. Since East Germany is less developed and has poor infrastructure comparatively thus eastern part receives more funds from the west even today which is wealthier. That means the people in the West are paying more taxes that is being utilized for the growth of the eastern part. Nevertheless, no one in the west is complaining about it because they have a sense of responsibility and liability to their fellow citizen who is less privileged. On the contrary, people in India do not think such way because they are divided based on their language, culture, tribes or whatsoever. Actually, the crux of the problem in India is that the administrative powers are highly centralized. For example if an Indian city needs an infrastructure project, it has to wait for the State Government to actually moot the project itself which in turn needs approvals from the Central Government. Even the city municipal budgets are to be approved by the Chief Ministers Office!! Ridiculous!! If Cities and districts are given autonomy with all executive powers exercised by the Mayor of the city or Head of the District concerned then local and macro development is a real possibility. The city could be allowed to run its own city courts, run its own police force, electricity board, water board, transport authority... this way the city taxes can be spent on its own citizens. And for the poor districts or other small towns can be sustained by the State government which should be using the state taxes it receives. Just dividing States for mere appeasement will never bring development. One may argue that it is efficient to govern a smaller population and smaller landmass. In my opinion, this is just an excuse to hide one’s incapacity and caliber to deliver. People those are supporting this move; they were never able to deliver nor they will even after split, it’s as simple as that they have become power hungry and have a myopic view to remain in power by all means.
