Spoke with a man collecting sand shrimp under the bridge today. Hes planning to fish for silvers on the Elk or the Sixes this coming week. He says sand shrimp sell for about $4.00 per dozen, so he had about $40.00 worth. We talked about how much bigger salmon used to be--50 pounds was not uncommon. Bigger than my dog, who was busy barking for a stick toss. Biggest recorded Chinook ever caught in Oregon was on the Umpqua River, in 1910. 83 pounds.
