Sport Fly-Fishing NZ signs New Equipment Sponsors for NZ Silver Flies International Teams New Zealand’s leading fly fishing supply company Rod & Reel have been named as the new sponsors for the NZ Sliver Flies teams to compete in the World and Commonwealth Championships in 2014 Sport Fly Fishing NZ– the organisation that runs competitive fly fishing in NZ – is sending teams to compete in the World Champs in the Czech Republic and the Commonwealth Champs in England 2014 The teams for both events comprise five anglers each plus the captain who also acts as reserve. The World Championships attract over 25 countries to compete, with the Commonwealth being a bit smaller with a maximum of 20 teams. As their new official sponsor – Rod & Reel – (an Auckland based company) will help give the teams a financial boost that will help them with equipment needed for the competitions such as up-to-date rods, reels, lines etc. Tony Houpt, Vice President of SFFNZ said: “It’s really great to have a company like Rod & Reel get behind the teams, as they have the most extensive range of the latest equipment used in Europe, which will be a great help” Paul Dewar director of Rod & Reel said: “Although we are a smaller company and have a limited budget, we really wanted to get behind our National fly fishing teams as we believe it’s really important for the local business community to support our sportsmen (and women, as there is one in the Commonwealth team) and the competitions drive innovation in our sport” “With the help of our international suppliers, Scott, Simms Airflo etc we will be able to ensure our NZ teams have the equipment to give them the best chance at these championships”
