Sport: Ice Hockey (4* NHL Play of the Day) Market: Boston Bruins @ Tampa Bay Lightning Pick: Total UNDER 5 ½ goals Odds: $1.72 Agency: Centrebet Wager: 4 Units Analysis: The red hot Tampa Bay Lightning will look to avenge a loss from earlier this season as they battle the Boston Bruins at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. The Bruins and Lightning faced each other in the first game of the season; a 3-1 Boston victory that was a tightly contested affair throughout. Anders Lindback was between the pipes for Tampa in that contest but tonight theyll turn to Ben Bishop. Bishop has been nothing short of outstanding this season. The former Sens and Blues goaltender is 5-0-0 with a 1.57 GAA and an immaculate .943 save percentage. On the other side of things, the Bruins are expected to go with Tuukka Rask in goal yet again. Rasks numbers are just as solid as Bishops as he sports a 1.51 GAA and .947 save percentage this season. Tampa Bay is dead last in the league in generating shots as they average a measly 24.1 shots per 60 minutes. Meanwhile, defensively theyve been solid, as they limit opponents to just 26.3 shots per game. The Under is 18-7-1 in the Bruins last 26 Saturday games. The Under is 31-15-9 in the Bruins last 55 overall. Goals will be tough to come by in Tampa this morning. This looks a low scorer, take the UNDER 5 ½ goals in this one for a strong 4 units in our 4* NHL Play of the Day. Sport: Ice Hockey Market: Colombus Blue Jackets @ Washington Capitals Pick: Capitals Win Odds: $1.77 Agency: Centrebet Wager: 3 Units Analysis: The Washington Capitals host the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Verizon Center on Saturday evening. The Capitals fell 2-0 to the Rangers on Wednesday night while the Blue Jackets are coming off of a 5-3 loss to the Canadiens on Thursday. The Capitals are 1-3-0 on their current homestand but we like them in a bounce back spot here. Head coach Adam Oates will be reshuffling Washingtons lines for this contest, and the new line combos should light a fire under the Caps here. Martin Erat will be moved up from the fourth line to the second line in this contest. Erat has 53 points in his career versus Columbus; his highest point total against any team in the league. Columbus will be playing their third game in five days here and wed venture an educated guess that theyll have tired legs against one of the leagues fastest teams. Sergei Bobrovsky gets the call in between the pipes for Columbus, but he hasnt enjoyed much success in his career against Washington. Bobrovsky has a 3.36 GAA and .890 save percentag in three career meetings with the Caps. Columbus has lost three straight games against Washington. The Capitals are 5-1 in their last 6 games playing on 2 days rest and 12-5 in their last 17 home games. Take Washington to win this one for 3 units. Sport: Ice Hockey Market: Nashville Predators @ Montreal Canadiens Pick: Total OVER 5 goals Odds: $1.74 Agency: Centrebet Wager: 3 Units Analysis: The scorching hot Montreal Canadiens look for their fifth straight win as they welcome the Nashville Predators to the Bell Centre on Saturday night. Montreal is one of the fastest teams in the NHL and theyve been playing an up-tempo game all season long. If you add the Habs Corsi For per 60 minutes to their Corsi Against per 60 minutes, you get a total of 124.6, which is the highest total in the league. Corsi is a measure of shots + shots attempts that missed the net + shot attempts that were blocked. Translation: Habs games tend to have a ton of shots. The league average in this measure is 109. The Predators are no slouches themselves. Nashville has put up at least 30 shots on net in four consecutive games. The Over is 7-3-2 in the Predators last 12 road games. The Over is 5-2 in the Canadiens last 7 home games. There will be goals in Montreal this morning. Take the OVER 5 here for 3 units and enjoy the goalfest. Sport: Ice Hockey Market: Toronto Maple Leafs @ Chicago Blackhawks Pick: Blackhawks Win & Blackhawks -1 ½ goals Odds: $1.54 & $2.65 Agency: Centrebet Wager: 3 Units and 2 units Analysis: In Dave Bolland’s first trip back to the United Center after he was traded in the offseason. It’s the Maple Leafs only trip to the United Center this season, so Bolland will be looking to make an impression after scoring the Stanley Cup winning goal in Game 6 of the Finals last season. Bolland has managed at least a point in each of his last three contests after recording an assist Thursday night against the Hurricanes. The Blackhawks are a dominant possession team and the Toronto Maple Leafs are not. This game has the potential to get ugly unless the Leafs are once again bailed out by a goaltending performance, which is completely possible. It’s entirely possible the Blackhawks get 60 shots on net while the Maple Leafs will struggle to break 20. We see it as - Blackhawks prevail 4-2. Take the Blackhawks to win for 3 units and -1 ½ goals for 2 units. Sport: Ice Hockey Market: Carolina Hurricanes @ New York Islanders Pick: Islanders Win & Islanders -1 ½ goals Odds: $1.77 & $3.30 Agency: Centrebet Wager: 3 Units and 1 unit Analysis: New York and Carolina are amongst 5 teams that have played in a league high six 1 goal games so far this season. The islanders are 2-2-2 in those situations with their latest one being a 3-2 win over the Oilers earlier in the week. John Tavares is in good form and the 23 year old centre leads the team with 4 goals and 9 points so far on the season. We like the Islanders in this situation. Take the Islanders to win for 3 units and we’re also going to have a small 1 unit play on the Islanders -1 ½ goals as we see this one being 3-1 the Islanders way. Sport: Ice Hockey Market: Colorado Avalanche @ Buffalo Sabres Pick: Avalanche Win & Avalanche -1 ½ goals Odds: $1.72 & $3.15 Agency: Centrebet Wager: 3 Units and 1 unit Analysis: Colorados season-opening win streak finally came to an end, but a matchup with the Buffalo Sabres league-worst offense should help the Avalanche get back on track. Led by stellar goaltending, Colorado will look to keep the Sabres bottled up and take a sixth straight victory in the series in Buffalo on Saturday night. The Avalanche (6-1-0) finished one win shy of matching the franchises best start with a 4-2 home loss to Detroit on Thursday. Colorado had yielded the same amount of goals over its previous four games combined, but Semyon Varlamov had a rough outing despite 24 saves. He entered with a 1.20 goals-against average. The club still leads the league in GAA (1.43) and save percentage (95.8). The Sabres (1-7-1) will find themselves in a particularly bad matchup, with a 1.1 goals-per-game average that is the leagues lowest. Theyre scoring on just 9.4 percent of power plays (3 for 32), also ranking near the bottom of the NHL. Buffalo was shut out for a second time while managing 25 shots in a 3-0 loss at Vancouver on Thursday. The Sabres, whose only win came 4-3 in a shootout at the New York Islanders on Tuesday, were booed off the ice following the second period. Fans also vocalized their discontent with Fire Darcy chants - a reference to general manager Darcy Regier. The Sabres are probably the worst team in the NHL and Colorado have started the season in white hot form. Take the Avalanche to win for 3 units and again we’re also taking them -1 ½ goals as well. #EasyMoney
