Sport is tough. It is supposed to be. There are scores kept and there are winners and there are losers. I dont think of people putting themselves out there to compete and be judged as losers but as competitors. I love the Olympic Games. The winner is often the person who did the best on that one day at that one moment in time that is forever honoured and improbable to accomplish repeatedly. There are some outliers but even the greats arent always the greatest on that day. What I like about the winning and losing is that it is life and it is celebrated. However when it comes to the games and representing your nation, the world changes when you win and when you lose, It is all perspective. This link is a nice read because it is true but it is the weirdest thing; often when you win, you just feel like youve done your job, you and others celebrate and you have a hero moment and you are proud to accomplish your goals, you win for yourself mainly and your team of coaches and administrations and home town, your team and you dont think too much of it in the way that you changed the world for the better, you won the race and you are the best that day and nobody can take it away. However, when you lose and expect to win or at least know you can and dont it isnt so blasé, you feel awful and not because you cant deal with the loss and you failed at that goal that day, but you and especially me, feel like you have let the team and community down. I know people dont really care, they are often worried about something else in their daily day and the team of professionals did everything they could do and they are proud because they did their best everyday to get you the tools to perform your best on any given day, sure they want you to win as bad as you do but they know the odds and they are realistic. Also, I know your community will still support you if you always give your best effort. These things are true. I still love all the Olympic Athletes all the same win or lose because they are awesome and doing their best to represent athletic perfection in competition, which to me is entertaining and an honourable pursuit. I love sport win or lose and I hate to lose but that is life and I do it a heck of a lot more then I win. I am tying to enjoy the journey more vs the outcome but the pressure to win from within is far greater then the pressure from others, that is for sure. Nonetheless, I liked reading this article and I think this Athlete is Spectacular and a World Champion and she is always a World Champion forever. As I go to sleep here in La Molina Spain with official training for my races I leave you with my favotite quote that inspires me from within, win or lose, You Cant Beat the Heart of a Champion Good luck to All the Great Competitors. May your Heart be Full knowing you did your best at that moment. thestar/sports/sochi2014/snowboarding/2014/02/09/disappointment_carries_more_emotional_depth_than_triumph_at_olympics_kelly.html
