Sports and Chemistry in the Movies #13 Football — Son of Flubber (1963) begins its story a few months after The Absent-Minded Professor ended. It turns out the military really likes his flubber but they can’t pay him until Congress agrees. So, Prof Brainard (Fred Macmurray) invents flubbergas to cause clouds to give dry rain that vastly improves the crops but also to break all the windows in the area. At 1:11:00, Brainard decides to help win the football game against Rutland, the National Champions. It will be the team’s last game and they outfit Humphry in an inflatable suit that he can control (but not when it counts).
