Sports betting, fantasy sports and daily fantasy sports are all ways to engage fans, but is cheering for one player or a point spread, really what engages fans to the maximum or do these things interfere with the fans just being fans? Deep down every sports fan wants to cheer for their team. Its bread in us from when we are kids and doesnt leave our hearts once its inside. We all have a favorite team. As fans its our right to have a favorite. As fans, its sent directly into our DNA once that favorite team has been chosen or passed on from a family member or friend. Its one of the most natural, purist things that happens because of sports. What happens to the purity in cheering for that favorite that when teams become distracted by the dollars involved in regulated sports betting and throw a game? What happens to the fans should this nightmare become a reality? When fans are cheering for a number of points to be scored rather then their favorite team just winning the game, the purity vanishes. It destroys what we remember from when we were kids. It wipes away the passion; the raw, pure, passion that fans feel for their favorite teams. The passion that a sports fan has for their team(s) is the type of passion that the world needs to embrace. Its the number one reason for all of us sports fans to protect the integrity of the sports we love. Its the reason we need to stick together and keep sport betting out of our minds and behind the walls of Las Vegas where it belongs.
