Spot light on a Song Happy Friday music fans! Todays Spot light on a Song is pretty darn special so read this when you have a few minutes to read & listen. Daniel Johnston: born in Sacramento, California, and grew up in the northern panhandle of West Virginia between Ohio and Pennsylvania near Chester and New Cumberland, West Virginia. He began recording music in the late 1970s on a $59 Sanyo monaural Boombox, singing and playing piano and chord organ. Johnstons musical work gained some notoriety when he moved to Austin, Texas. He is influential to many a great song writer, Kurt Cobain, Jeff Tweedy to name a few. To quote Jeff Tweedy: For a songwriter like myself, hearing this music in such a raw state is exciting. There’s so much to draw you in. You can get lost in the potential, in how much he leaves open to interpretation. The song below, “True Love Will Find You in the End,” has an incredible line that says so much—much more than what you should be able to say in so few words. Don’t be sad, I know you will But don’t give up until True love will find you in the end Johnston is a gem. Known to many but in my opinion, not enough. Why is it this cant be what the world wants to listen to?
