Spot on! If youre looking for a Solar install, pay for it - TopicsExpress

Spot on! If youre looking for a Solar install, pay for it outright (as I am or shortly will be). Or, use a home equity loans with a currently very very low rate [and which is normally tax-deductible]. Somethings way too-good-to-be-true when a solar biz wants to NOT sell you something and give you a deal. Theyre making money somewhere on you & on your property - and you just havent found it. [Plus, solar lease-back deals encumber the future sale of your home with the new buyer. He/she may be smart enough to recognize you didnt get the deal that you thought you did - and will either back out, or comeback with an offer that requires system buyout and thus ultimately less cash in pocket of seller. Delays in solar lease resolution during home sales can kill deals and even keep a house on market too long.] Beware anyone that keeps trying to sell you a deal and not wanting to take cash up front! ...solar companies found that instead of trying to hard-sell the pricey rooftop solar systems outright, leases were a much more appealing option for the homeowner, with less out-of-pocket investment.... allowed the solar companies to claim the federal and state tax credits instead of the consumer. Many solar companies are able to claim federal, state and local “incentives” and subsidies. ... what many don’t know is they are actually leasing their roof for 15 to 20 years to a company that collects all of the government subsidies. I do disagree a bit with author Katy Grimes assertion about false assumptions of high energy cost inflation rates. I think PG&E power costs WILL increase quite a bit faster than inflation due to increased CA regulatory costs, cozy relations with PUC, long-term infrastructure repair costs due to deferrals for subsidizing green stuff, and pension loads/union cost structure overhead. Sadly, Id not be surprised to see more San Bruno-style PG&E natural gas fire damage given poor system design and connectivity/control/monitoring incompetence. flashreport.org/blog/2014/12/18/how-solar-leases-scam-the-homeowner-and-solar-contractors-keep-the-subsidies/
