Spotlight On: Urban Shield 2014, September 4-8. The NASA Ames Research Center Disaster Response and Assistance Team (DART) Site will be the location for the USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) portion of this years Urban Shield 2014 Regional Response Exercise, hosted by Alameda County. Urban Shield has grown into a comprehensive, full-scale regional preparedness exercise assessing the overall Bay Area UASI Regions response capabilities related to multi-discipline planning, policies, procedures, organization, equipment and training. Urban Shield continues to test regional integrated systems for prevention, protection, response and recovery in our high-threat, high-density urban area. Lots of preparation goes into developing the props used during the exercise. In the photos, DART Deputy Chief Roger Miller and Rescue Program Manager Eric Rockwell are putting together concrete slabs for use in the exercise. Stay tuned for additional spotlight segments.
