Spring Camp: Technology Journeys March 24th - 28th, 2014 * 6th - 8th Grade New for Middle School Students! Immerse yourself in the inspiring world of the Museums Teen Tech Center, where the possibilities of your digital media products are as limitless as your creativity. Use innovative technologies to code, construct and create in ways you probably have not imagined! Monday, March 24th: Code with Scratch Enter the fun and user-friendly coding world of Scratch 2.0. Create your own stories, animations and games to propose solutions to real-world problems. Build coding skills as you take games apart and put them back together again in new ways. Challenge your friends and family to play your game online. Tuesday, March 25th: Animated Creations Learn to use the classic special effects technique of stop-motion to make your own short animation of drawings, objects, or characters. Starting with your own concept, develop a storyboard, photograph the frames, and use software to patch them together into a unique creation that you can take with you. Wednesday, March 26th: Colorful Cosmos Be an astronomer for a day as you use NASA telescopes to take your own images of the Universe. Use real astronomical software to combine images, change brightness and contrast, and add color schemes to find whats hidden in the raw images of the sky. Take your own spectacular, cosmic images with you. Thursday, March 27th: Movie Making Learn what it takes to create a movie. Find your story and your stars, compile and edit your video, add a soundtrack, and of course add your name to the credits. Use iMovie or MovieMaker to put it all together. Develop an understanding of the moviemaking process and export your own masterpiece to DVD. Friday, March 28th: Wearable Circuits These days, computers show up in surprising places: watches, glasses, and even our shoes. Learn how to program Arduino circuits that you can sew into clothing or plush toys. Then, use batteries, LEDs and conductive thread to make colorful creations that you can wear home. Camp Details Schedule: Classes run from 9:00am to 3:30 pm. Before and after care are available. Prices*: $50 (Members)/ $60 (Non-members) per child per day $225 (Members)/ $275 (Non-members) for a full week Before Care: $5 per child per day (7:45am-9:00am) After Care: $12 per child per day (4:00pm-6:00pm) *Please note that refunds are not given for camp classes. If for some reason a child needs to withdraw from or cannot attend a session that they have been registered for, a Museum Credit will be issued. This credit is good for one year from the date of issue and may be applied to any camp classes or towards a Museum Membership. ued.
