Spring has finally arrived, summer may already be here in your neck of the woods! Time to clean those comforters and store them for next fall. But they take up so much room in my closets... So, heres what I do, since those vacuum bags are kind of pricey, if you ask me. 1) Clean and dry the comforter. Be certain it is dry, please! 2) Fold the comforter neatly. 3) Insert the comforter in a plastic bag. Cheaper bags may need to be doubled. Heavy duty black trash bags work best, but I used a clear one for these photos. 4) Take out your vacuum cleaner. Insert the nozzle into the comforter and gather the plastic bag around the hose to make a tight seal. 5) Lo and behold, the comforter will get smaller and smaller! 6) Seal the bag tightly. Twist the open ends and secure with twist ties. Thats it! Put the bag on a shelf, in a closet, in a cedar chest, or under the bed. Even if some air gets in and the bag expands a bit, the item will still take up less space. This works great for pillows, too. You may want to bag each pillow separately. Just be sure you always check that your items are clean and completely dry before storing them this way. Enjoy the summer months and know your bedding will be ready in the fall!
