Spring is here… “ For we died and were buried with Christ - TopicsExpress

Spring is here… “ For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.” Romans 6:4 As we celebrate the spring season, we begin enjoying the beauty of newly sprouted blossoms on the Dogwood and Redbud trees as well as many others. No artist who has ever used a paintbrush has ever been able to capture the magnificence as the One who created the true beauty of nature’s canvas. There’s also the sweet fragrance of fresh wild flowers floating in the gentle spring breeze. And who doesn’t cherish the thought of strolling in the warm sun and savoring the refreshing aroma of the honeysuckle? Just thinking of it makes me smile. Of course we can’t overlook the fact that the beauty of spring is impossible without the nuisance of pollen; that yellowy powder that gets in, on and around everything. It gives us the watery eyes, running noses and sneezing. Pollen is the sign of the newness of spring. In order to enjoy and appreciate the beauty God has created, we must suffer through the annoying discomfort pollen brings. But there is hope. We always can know that God will send a refreshing spring rain to cleanse the air and wash away all the pollen. Spring is the season of rebirth; the time of year when new life begins. Just as spring brings rejuvenated life after a cold, dead winter, the events that occurred on the morning of Christ’s resurrection gives us the gift of a new life. We are able to be reborn with newness only God can give. We are able to live in the beauty and splendor of spring in spite of the “pollen” in the world that sometimes makes life unpleasant. We must stay strong in faith when the times get difficult and wait for God as He sends a refreshing rain to flush away the “pollen” in our lives. Because of God’s amazing grace, all the yellowness of sin is gone and we can celebrate the eternal spring through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. “He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior.” Titus 3:5b
