Sprout (Second Paige) is finally starting to settle into his new home and routine and his character is gradually coming to the forefront. Unfortunately for him having had long conversations with the vet who treated him and having seen the scans and read the report we have had no choice but to make the decision that his riding days are over. We had hoped that his condition would have allowed him to become a light hack but for his sake we simply cannot risk it hence this lovely chap will live out his days as a companion, most probably here at the centre with us. A great shame as Sprout has such presence and is a really eye catching horse but his safety and welfare has to come first hence he needs to lead a quiet and comfortable life and I cant think of better surroundings than Stilemans to offer him exactly this. Of course he must still be allowed to be a horse and have fun when he chooses but he is in the lap of the gods when he has a romp around that his enlarged heart can take it, fingers crossed that he has many more years of enjoyment ahead of him.
