Spying ? What the Met Police ? Nahhhh they wouldnt do such a thing ! Police refuse to deny mystery aircraft flying over London was top secret Met spy plane Police are refusing to deny claims that a mystery plane which flew over London and then disappeared may have been one of its alleged covert surveillance aircraft. Plane spotters following the movements of the Cessna F406 Caravan on tracking websites were left baffled when it suddenly vanished. It had no recognisable call sign but had been circling parts of the capital at a height of 10,000ft between 10am-12.30pm on Tuesday morning. The plane had reportedly taken off from Farnborough Airport and its flight path had shown it flying in circles around Lewisham in an area between Bromley, Dulwich and Plumstead before flying off and then apparently dissapearing. In 2011 it was reported that the Metropolitan Police had been operating surveillance aircraft similar to those used by security service MI5. The planes supposedly had the ability to intercept telephone calls and eavesdrop on conversations. The secret planes were reportedly registered with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to a firm called Nor Leasing, a company which had no other official records. According to CAA records, the plane which flew over London on Tuesday was also registered to Nor Leasing. The CAA would not comment further on Tuesdays incident but said the aircrafts details were publicly available. A Metropolitan Police spokesman, said: Our position is that we will not confirm nor deny any involvement with the plane. Liberal Democrats in the London Assembly have previously called on the capitals Mayor Boris Johnson to reveal details of any secret aircraft but he said it was not appropriate to do so for operational security reasons. The Cessna F406 Caravan is a 14-seat, twin propeller aircraft frequently used for passenger and small cargo transport, as well as civilian and military surveillance. mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/police-refuse-deny-mystery-aircraft-3899555
