Squeeze Art Collective - OPEN CALL TO ARTISTS: A Bird in the Hand (Is Worth Two in the Bush) **Seeking Live Painters and upcycled/recycled/found object artists** We are curating the art portion of the Green Prize Festival (greenprizefestival) being held on Saturday, April 26th 2014 at Bixby Park. The theme is A Bird in the Hand (Is Worth Two in the Bush) - which means its better to have a lesser but certain advantage than the possibility of a greater one that may come to nothing. You can take this theme as literally (a bird painting with some hands and a bush) or as figuratively (going more for the underlying concept of the phrase) as you want. We are looking for art on up-cycled or recycled materials (not required) as this is a green event. Take an old canvas you dont like and paint over it or find some old furniture on the side of the road and give it a facelift, etc. We are showcasing live painters around the park and will also have a pop up gallery (consisting of temporary walls) to hang art too. To participate: • There is a $10 fee. • Live painters keep 100% of the sales of their work and can also show work at the pop up gallery. • If you are showing work only, Squeeze keeps 20% of the sales to help with the cost of set up and tear down, promotion, storage, transportation and sales.
