Sr. Legal Specialist-1406744 Description: This position is responsible for managing the registration statements and related legal documentation for multiple registered investment companies. It entails working with attorneys in the John Hancock Group of Funds legal department and clients within the John Hancock Group of Funds and John Hancock registered investment advisers. The position reports to the senior paralegal overseeing registration statement filings. The position also will provide specialized paralegal services, including preparing complex corporate documents and managing projects with limited supervision. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinating all aspects of the filing of registration statements, supplements, merger documents, proxies and other required filings with the SEC. Reviewing and commenting on shareholder reports, disclosure documents and other corporate documents. Communicating and interacting with attorneys, other paralegals and clients. Assisting in legal research as needed. Providing assistance to attorneys and administrative support as needed. Required Qualifications/Experience: Paralegal Certification and/or Bachelors degree and at least five years of paralegal or similar experience with a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal department. Required Skills: Proficiency with MS Word, MS Powerpoint and Excel. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadline pressure. Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of legal matters. Ability and willingness to take initiative to address problems and make continuous process improvements. Excellent interpersonal skills and team-orientation. Excellent communication skills. Detail orientation and excellent organizational skills. Excellent work ethic.
