Sri Lanka reaches WT20 final via Duckworth–Lewis ’27-run victory’ Sachnews Jammu Kashmir Sports : DHAKA, April 03: Sri Lanka has been declared victorious team in the ‘semi’ fight of World Cup T20 2014′s final against West Indies via Duckworth-Lewis method thanks to heavy rainfall during the match played at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur. Sri Lanka has managed to enter final phase of the ICC’s international event, World Cup T20, after defeating opponent team, West Indies, via Duckworth-Lewis method. The victorious team would play the final match third time in its T20 history as earlier it reached final grounds in 2009 and 2012. Disappointing moments for West Indies players, when Sri Lanka’s bowlers had choked the chase to suffocation-point before heavy rain during the 13th over being bowled by Kulasekara while Marlon Samuels and Darren Sammy were on the pitch. At that time, West Indies had scored 80 runs after losing 4 important wickets while they had to achieve 108-run target. West Indies had actually scored 17 from the first, wayward over from Nuwan Kulasekara, but as an unambitious Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels hunkered down, they mustered only 17 from the next six. Darren Sammy, who has been the finisher of the tournament, was about to face his first ball when the weather intruded. Two Lasith Malinga overs remained, however, and the required rate may have been beyond even Sammy’s rapid blade. Angelo Mathews has been awarded with the ‘Man of the Match’ title in the semi-final play. He played outstanding inning of 40 run on 23 balls.
