Sri e36 had been tailing me for a few laps. He could brake later than me on the fast turns. I was slowed for the turn 1 turn and was starting to turn the wheel when he locked up and slammed into the right rear pretty hard. The hit sent me into a field spinning. The car was still running, but I knew the damage was bad. It was that hard a hit. Got it around the track to pit lane, the guy started pulling the fender out, but noticed the right rear had big toe in issue and a bent strut rod. Pulled it into the paddock. Replaced the strut rod, and modified the rear tie rod to put the tire back to the proper toe in. We thought that the wheel base was altered, but a quick measurement showed 94 both sides. All the lights still worked. I cut the bumper cover so we would not have that flap hanging out in the air flow. So I got the car back on track. We finished today. We are in the mid 30s. Car races fine. Should be super fast in the dry tomorrow. Mike Helm starts off. Then Gene Bird then me. We are shooting for a top ten. We will not give up. The car may not be pretty, it is only the trunk that is bent. It is a damn sports car, they dont need trunks!
