Srinagar\12\\: Expressing its deep concern over the fresh spree of arrest in Shopian and Tral areas, All Parties Hurriyat Conference said that fresh crackdown on the youth has been started in this holy month of Ramadan and dozens of youth including Javaid Ahmad Falay, Zahid Yousuf, Ghulam Jeelani Gangoo, Sajad Ahmad Rather, Abdul Rasheed, Mohammad Qayoom Mangnoo, Fasil Ahmed Mir, Umar Ahmed Malik and Muzaffar Ahmad Mangnoo have been arrested and detained in different police stations and interrogation centres. Hurriyat Conference also strongly condemned the actions of the in-charge police station Shopian, wherein he is insulting the detainees and subjecting them to custodial violence and said that the said officer is crossing his limits of duty and he is taking the help of army to arrest the youth of the area. In Saturday’s press statement, hurriyat said that about 50 youth have been arrested in the village side areas of Tral Pasthoon, laroo, ladoogaam and aaripul and many of them were subjected to the custodial violence into the torture centres. Army and police are conducting frequent raids of the residential houses and due to which the Sehri and Ifrati timings of the people have got disturbed. The entire area is living under constant threat and the civil administration is acting as the mute spectator to this situation. Hurriyat said that Tral area is being targeted under an organized way and the life of the people of this area has become a hell. Army and STF are avenging the people for the presence of the Mujahideen in the area and it is the clear violation of the basic human rights and international laws. It is equal to making the common people as human shield which doesn’t have any constitutional and moral justification. Hurriyat Conference expressed anguish over the attitude of the Omer Abdullah led government towards the sufferings of the common people of these areas and the people of these areas have been left on the mercy of the cruel Indian army. The pro-Indian politicians are only concerned towards their chairs and they have nothing to do with the situation of the common people. Hurriyat also took serious notice of the attitude of the in-charge of police station Shopian who is subjecting the detainees to the custodial violence. He is not only abusing the youth in the police station but they are also severely beaten there. Hurriyat Conference appealed local and international human rights organisations to take serious notice of the custodial violence against the detainees in Kashmir and use their influence to end this process.
