Srinagar: A family from old Srinagar city Wednesday accused Khyber Hospital management of mistreating an ailing patients and forcing him to leave the hospital ward for not paying the ‘desirable’amount as fee.A family from Kandwar Hawal in Srinagar city Wednesday staged a protest against the Khyber Hospital Khayam management.The protestors alleged that doctors and owners of Khyber hospital are not only maltreating the poor patients but demand hefty sums from them for their treatment.“My father Habibullah Sheikh suffered a fracture in the leg. During observation at Bones and Joints Hospital it was detected that he was suffering from some heart ailment. A doctor from Khyber Medical Institute motivated us to pay Rs 30,000 forhis operation and on Tuesday after paying the desired sum of money, he was shifted to operation theater at Khyber,” he said adding during late hours on Tuesday the doctors refused to operated upon him and demanded more money from them.“When we refused to pay more money, they dragged my ailing father from the operation theater and forced him to bear the chill in the hospital premises. When werefused to leave the hospital the hospital security pounced upon us and charged us with canes,” he said and demanded stern action against the Khyber Medical Institutedoctors for playing with the lives of ailing patients.When CNS contacted Khyber Medical Institute, the authorities there refused to comment on the issue.
