Srinagar, August 03: APHC spokesman has sternly condemned the torture of six shepherds by Indian army in north Kashmir’s Lolab area. The spokesman stated that the special legal powers vested with the army are being misused, adding, they are using those powers to suppress and murder Kashmiris. He stated that time and again people of Lolab are being oppressed and tortured by the army due to their overwhelming presence in the area. The spokesman has condemned the house arrest of APHC Media Advisor Advocate Shahid-ul-islam and Public Affairs Head Zaffar Akbar Bhat. He stated that they way government was imposing curbs on the peaceful activities of hurriyat leaders depicts the anti-democratic attitude of authorities, adding, it was a clear case of political retribution. The spokesman demanded immediate release of Kashmiri youth lodged on jails and police lock-ups
