Srinagar: In an apparent hint towards Al Qaeda, Former United Jihad Council (UJC)chief and Mahaz-e-Azadi (MeA) Chief Patron, Azam Inquillabi on Wednesday claimed ‘global Islamic warriors’ are behind Uri Fidayeen attack and said PrimeMinister Narendra Modi can’t stop their way in Kashmir. In a statement issued to GNS, Inquillabi claimed the recent Fidayeen attack in Uri, where 17 persons including 11 government forces men were killed, was done by these warriors who have no understanding with the head of nation states including Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.“What happened in Uri few days back was done by those warriors who have no understanding with Nawaz Sharif, King Abdullah and Ashraf Ghani. They came here on their own. There can be no surety that such things can’t happen again with more impulsion,” the ex-UJC said. This year on 3rd September, the Al Qaeda chief Ayman-al-Zawahiri announced the launch of Al Qaeda’s Indian branch and nominated Maulana Asim Umar as its head. In a video message, Zawahri described the formation of Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent as glad tidings for Muslims ‘ Myanmar, Bangladesh, Assam, Gujarat, Ahmedabad, and Kashmir’and said the new wing would rescue Muslims there from injustice and oppression.Inquillabi headed a militant outfit Operation Balakote and served as chief of UJC –an amalgam of militant groups operating in Kashmir. He was an aide of militant ideologue and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front leader, Muhammad Maqbool Bhat, who was hanged and buried by government of Indiain 1984 in Tihar prison of Delhi. Inquillabi is a strong advocate of Independent Kashmir but ardent supporter of Pakistan as well.Interestingly, no militant group has claimed responsibility for the Uri Fidayeenattack. Though Syed Salahuddin, the UJC chief and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen supreme commander, praised slain militants, who carried out the attack, but didn’t said which outfit was behind the brazen attack. In past, the militant outfits used to claim such attacks within hours and minutes after the action and sometimes even several outfits claimed responsibility for a single attack. However, the Commander ofarmy’s 15 Corps, Lt General Subrata Saha on Sunday told reporters that Laskhar-e-Toiba (LeT) is behind the Uri attack.LeT, in fact in past, has carried out most Fidayeen attacks in Kashmir as well as Jammu followed by Jaish-e-Muhammad.The MeA patron slammed Modi for callingmilitants operating in Kashmir as terrorists. “Modi calls our Mujahedeen as terrorists but Kashmir Muslims have deep love and affection for mujahids (sic). How can we forget thousands of youth who were killed by Indian troops here?” he said.“Kashmiris are fighting like Shri Arjun and warriors of Badr and Balakote on the path of truth, justice and freedom,” he said, andasked Modi to re-read Gita, the holy book of Hindus
