Srinagar, July 2: The candlelight protest, organized by Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) to pay tributes to two youth killed in Army firing in Bandipora, turned violent on Tuesday evening when mournersclashed with forces. Soon after candlelight protest ended protestorsraised pro-freedom slogans and clashed withpolice and paramilitary CRPF men who were deployed in strength in Maisuma area, the JKLF bastion. Prior to the clashes the JKLF held a candle-light protest against the killing of two youth Irfan Ahmad Ganaie, 17, and Tariq Ahmad Laharwal, 23 by Army at Markundal village in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Sunday. The JKLF workers took out a march from their headquarters to Madina Chowk, Gaw Kadal, here. Holding photographs of Irfan and Tariq aloft, the JKLF workers raised pro-freedom slogans, and asked New Delhi “to stop killing innocent Kashmiris.” “This protest is against the killing of two youth in Bandipora. And also against the killing of those Kashmiris who were murdered before,” protesters shouted. “International community must take note of the atrocities being perpetuated in Kashmir,” they added. The JKLF spokesperson said the rally was scheduled to be led by JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik. “But due to his continuous house arrest, the rally had to be led by senior JKLF leader and party generalsecretary Er Ghulam Rasool Dar Eidhi,” he said. “Our protest and rally stands as a symbol of ourprotest and resistance against the brutal use of force against innocents,”he added. The separatist leaders, who spoke on the occasion, slammed mainstream politicians for what they termed as “shedding crocodile tears” over cold-bloodedmurder of innocent Kashmiris by Army. “This all is done under a well-thought-out plan,” they said. “They are shielding killers.” Speakers also condemned the continued house arrest of JKLF chief Yasin Malik and other leaders. JKLF leaders including Noor Muhammad Kalwal,Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, Mir Muhammad Zaman, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Dr Basharat Shirazi, Muhammad Jamal and others participated in the rally. The JKLF (H) leader JavedAhmad Mir, senior lawyer Muhammad AminMalla and Zahoor AhmadMir also participated in the rally
