Srinagar, July 23: Terming the desecration of Holy Qur’an in Ramban as unbearable and unpardonable crime, senior separatist leader and chairman Democratic Freedom Party Shabir Ahmad Shah today said that unless the forces involved in such heinous crime are brought to book, the wave of anger and resentment against such sacrilegious act would continue throughout the length and breadth of Jammu and Kashmir. Commenting on the cynicism of people towards inquiry commission ordered by government against erring forces, Shah in his statement said that each and every time when forces were involved in ‘massacres’, government ordered probes and inquiries, but to no avail. “The so called inquiries were also ordered over Gawkadal massacre, Bijbehara massacre, Hazratbal massacre, Sopore massacre, Chattisinghpora massacre and Machchil fake encounter but not a single personal was ever punished,” Shah said. Calling for an independent and impartial inquiry into the Gool Ramban incident, Freedom Party Chairman said that the culprits are well known. He said the root cause of killing of Kashmiris by ‘forces’ is Kashmir dispute and unless this issue is resolved, such killings will continue. Commenting on soft stand of Islamic countries over Kashmir, Shah in his statement said that OIC General Secretary Professor Ekmaluddin, as a spokesperson of the organization, should not only have raised voice against ‘state oppression in Kashmir’ in strong terms but also should have initiated some concrete steps to prevent the oppression inflicted on Kashmiris. In a separate statement, the Democratic Freedom Party spokesperson today strongly condemned the continuous house arrest of its Chairman after Gool Ramban incident. According to spokesperson, Chairman Shabir Shah had ordered a delegation under the leadership of Jammu province president Advocate Muhammad Shafi Rangrez to express sympathies and condolences with the families of deceased and those injured in Gool Ramban incident. But the authorities intercepted the delegation at Batato. The Freedom Party spokesperson also condemned the government policy to prevent Hurriyat leadership from expressing sympathy and condolences to those injured and killed in Gool Ramban. “Keeping in view the present uncertain situation in Jammu Kashmir, the Freedom Party Chairman Shabir Shah urged both people as well as Hurriyat leaders to remain vigilant over Shia-Sunni sectarian clashes which are aimed to weaken the ‘movement’ and to divert attention from sacrifices laid down for the cause,” spokesperson said in his statement.
