Srinagar, June 01 (KMS): The High Court of occupied Kashmir has reserved verdict on a contempt plea filed by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, seeking action against the authorities for non-compliance of court directives on his house arrest.A bench headed by Justice Verinder Singh reserved the decision after hearing arguments of Gilani’s counsel, Mian Abdul Qayoom and Additional Advocate General, SA Vakil representing the puppet administration in the case. Vakil informed the court that the District Magistrate of Srinagar had passed a fresh order on April 20, 2013, for the house arrest of Syed Ali Gilani. He pleaded that police deployed outside Gilani’s residence was meant for his protection. Mian Abdul Qayoom argued before the court that Syed Ali Gilani didn’t want any security at his residence and wanted to live like a common man. “The Police Choki at his residence has been impeding his movement and he is not allowed to go even for offering prayers,” Mian Qayoom argued. The veteran leader had moved an application seeking his presence in the court to explain how he was confined to his house on the dates which the authorities had stated he was on tour.
