Srinagar: Reacting to the recent statement made by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah about the ‘conditional accession’ with India, Chairman, United Jihad Council (UJC) Syed Salahuddin Wednesday said that mainstream politicians are not trustworthy and they sometimes speak the language of separatist leaders to appease and befool the people of Kashmir. In an interview with Srinagar based news agencyCNShe said that the revelations made by former Army Chief of India is not surprising as every Kashmiri knows it well Army is befriending the anti-movement people in Kashmir. “Mainstream politician in Kashmir get dictation from New Delhi and there is no doubt about it. These politicians are a slur on the fair name of our freedom struggle,” he said. He criticized Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for terming United Nations resolutions on Kashmir as irrelevant. “The statement made by Singh is an eye-opener for not only Kashmiri people but for Pakistan as well. Pakistan should take some bold steps and there is a need to frame strong Kashmir policy. India will never bow before Pakistan till the later not change its Kashmir policy. Time has come for Pakistan to show its strength and tell India to demilitarize Kashmir,” Salahuddin said adding that Pakistan should decide whether friendship with India is in its interest or it wants to support Kashmiri people. “Talks between India and Pakistan will be in vain without Kashmiri representation,” he said. Salahuddin said that Kashmiri Mujahideen were fighting a war for Pakistan’s survival and asked the government of Pakistan to immediately review its policy and adopt a strong stance on Kashmir. Syed Salahuddin said that UN Resolutions on Kashmir are as relevant as ancient history. “I wonder how one of our friends despite being a top separatist leader termed UN Resolutions irrelevant. I think Professor Sahab (Prof. Gani Bhat) is not aware about the Kashmir history,” he said adding that we should not speak the language of India. He said that disunity amoung separatist groups are proving unproductive for the people of Kashmir who are suffering heavily. Separatist camps should come under one roof and take the Movement to its logical end. While replying to a question, Chairman, United Jihad Council (UJC) Syed Salahuddin told CNS that militancy in Kashmir Valley has not come to an end. “More people are joining militant ranks. We are giving tough time to Indian Army in Border regions. Mujhadeen are active in Tral, Machil, Tangdar, Poonch and in other areas. Scores of youth from Jammu sector have joined militant ranks after the Gool blood bath,” he said. “Soon after the Gool blood bath, youth from Jammu sector especially from Udhampur joined our ranks. These youth are fighting with Indian troopers and recently attacked police station in Hira Nagar and Army Unit in Samba,” he said adding these youth are in constant touch with UJC. He said that there is no militant outfit by the name of ‘Mujhadeen Talban Kashmir’ which had claimed the responsibility of Naaz Crossing attack. “This militant outfit has been created by Indian agencies to meet their interests,” he said. Syed Salahuddin appreciated the role of National Panthers Party patron, Prof Bhim Singh for highlighting the plight of Kashmir youth languishing in different jails of India. “Prof Bhim Singh has said that Kashmiri youth are languishing in Gujarat, Varanasi, Rajasthan and other jails of Inida and they are being maltreated there. We appreciate his role and bold statement,” he said. Chairman UJC Syed Salahuddin told CNS that gun was not the only solution for resolving Kashmir issue but after 1987 Assembly Elections, I realized that a slave has no right to vote and elect his representative. “I contested from Amira Kadal Constituency in 1987. Believe me, the relatives of my opposite National Conference candidate late Ghulam Mohi-u-Din Shah cast their votes in favour of me. On the directions of Dr Farooq Abdullah, then Inspector General of Police Kashmir mobilized his manpower and rigged the elections. Muslim United Front candidates were leading in every constituency. We were forced to accept defeat and that moment I realized that slaves have no right to vote,” he said adding that soon after their supporters were jailed and tortured.
