Srinagar, September 21:Chairman Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani said , Curfew restrictions ,forces excesses and detention are acts of barbarism and added that people in Shopian are being subjected to political vengeance. The whole area is under curfew since last 15 days and people are virtually facing starvation like situation. Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday condemned the continous curfew restrictions in Shopian and said that the restrictions have badly affected the education system and fruit industry and urged authorities to lift curfew restriction forthwith .Syed Ali Geelani said that when we call for protest against the excesses the pro-Indian political parties make hue and cry, saying and pleading for economy and future of students and now these quarters are silent over the continuous curfew in Shopian and nether they care for students nor show any concern for the economy. How can we ignore the pain of our people, said Syed Ali Geelani and how can we be indifferent towards the killings of innocent youth and added that Indian forces are killing our youth without any justification. Syed Ali Geelani while justifying the resentment of people said that people protested and resented these oppressive measures, however Umer Abdullah instead coming to their rescue imposed restrictions because they wailed over the dead bodies of their youngsters and protested against this brutal acts. People of Shopian are being subjected to political reprisal said Syed Ali Geelani and added that we are monitoring the situation and are keeping close watch over the developments. Syed Ali Geelani said that we will consider other options and would try to mitigate the sufferings of people in Shopian, in case the curfew is not lifted . Syed Ali Geelani said that today when people are celebrating the ‘World Peace day” on global level ,the peace in state is being tormented at the hands Indian forces and unarmed civilians are facing the worst kind of state terrorism. He urged the international community to immediately take notice of the serious situation in Jammu and Kashmir and play their role in resolving the issue . Meanwhile Syed Ali Geelani condemned the arrest of Altaf Ahmad Shah, Secretary public Relations and harassment of inmates of spokesman Ayaz Akbar and Amir Hamza during raids and added that police severely assaulted the brother of Amir Hamza and their families were harassed. It is a “clear message that the claims of Umer Abdullah led administration and the state government on democracy and tolerance are a hoax and the incumbent regime is on the path of war to crush its political opponents by force.” Syed Ali Gilani while thanking people of state for their resentment and making the protest call against the recent killings a success, said though these strikes have its implication over our economy however when our innocents are being brutally killed we are left with only this option . Syed Ali Geelani said though we consider other options .,however the authorities have virtually declared a martial law in the state and added that we favor to consider other methods if somebody feels his responsibility and wishes to suggest and share with us the other methods. They are most welcome and they should share and guide the nation .Syed Ali Geelani strongly condemned slapping of one more detention order under Public Safety Act (PSA) on Mushtaq-ul-Islam and said it is worst example of state terrorism that intelligence agencies are creating hurdles in his release as they are doing with Masarat Alam . Demanding urgent release, Syed Ali Geelani expressed concern for deteriorating health of Shakeel Ahmad Bhat (Fateh Kadal ) said that he is being detained since 2008 and slapping detention orders for 11 times for same charges is unjustified and is worst human rights violation. Syed Ali Geelani urged Amnesty International and the International Red Cross Committee to take notice of the plight of the Kashmiri detenues and use their influence for their immediate release.
