Ss Philip & James Parish News – August 2013 Parish Council meets the second Monday of the month (August 12) at 7pm in the hall. This will be a planning meeting for the Labor Day Festival. We need all who chair committees to attend (kitchen, dining room, outside, tickets, publicity). All are welcome. Christian Family Life Committee meets the third Sunday (August 18) after Mass in the hall. All are welcome. We will be organizing the Country Store for the festival. We are looking for homemade goodies from fresh summertime produce, as well as baked goods. Come with ideas to make this a great success. Donations of pint or half pint canning jars can be left in the kitchen. Thank you. Labor Day Festival : Plans are under way. We need your help to make this a success. Plan to attend either or both of the above meetings to get this organized. A second collection will be taken up during August to cover costs of the festival. Any money left over, plus part of the profits from the festival will go toward redoing the bathrooms. Festival Entertainment: We are looking for local talent for the festival, either from the parish or community. If you have a talent to share or know someone who does, please sign up on the sheet in the back of the church. Work schedule: Please sign up in the back of the church. We need your help to make this a success. Dessert donations: Sign up sheet is in the back of the church. Country Store: Baked goods and home canned items are needed for the Country Store. Basket raffle: The CFL committee is sponsoring a Steelers’ Basket. Drawing will be held at the end of the festival. Ticket sales begin two weeks prior. Bathroom redo: Contractors are looking at the situation.
