St Aidans 4-3 Milbourne Arms FootballClub (AET) County Cup action saw the Milly up against St Aidans who are one league above us. The opening part of the game saw us playing good football on the ground, with plenty of possession and width in the team. However we went one down from a header, that maybe could have been averted. With fierce determination the Milly equalised through Chris Campbell and then took the lead with Azzer scoring. Halftime 1-2 Second half we had the wind and this gave us an advantage in that we played a lot of the game in the oppositions half. Once again though we gifted them a goal with a goalkeeping error by List, 2-2. We contined to press though and took the lead with a corner by Cam and a trademark header by Azzer. Then a big moment and good play saw the ball squared to Cam but with the goal gaping he shot over the bar. Seconds to go and Aidans broke down the wing, crossed and scored to the despair of all the Milly lads. 90 mins 3-3. Extra time. Tired legs, cramp, and exhaustion began to take its toll. Chances were few and far between for both sides. On the bench the penalty takers were being discussed, but with the wind behind their backs Aidans pressed forward and found the winner in the 117 minute. Gutted.
