St Andrews Church of Scotland was full to bursting to lay Brexy to - TopicsExpress

St Andrews Church of Scotland was full to bursting to lay Brexy to rest at the cruelly young age of 33. Only today did I discover his name was actually Brian Joseph Haggarty, when you are awarded a nickname in our community it sticks. I know three generations of the family having gone to school with his devoted Mother and knew Brexy as a constant companion of the groups of friends around my daughter and her partner. A time served and skilled painter he worked and maintained the biggest and best cruise ships in the world until returning to his home town. He was drained by his battle to survive a four year battle with a cancerous brain tumour and while it mercilessly ravaged his body it never once dented his indomitable spirit. He was buried today in a coffin proudly draped with his beloved Union Jack reflecting his love for his marching flute bands and the Orange Order. His friends will think of him with a big smile on his face, a joint of the finest green and bottle of Bucky at his side. I hope the soft, gentle voice of the Lady Minister brought some comfort to his family and friends today. And to his loyal friends, The Band of Brothers I share your grief. https://youtube/watch?v=jhdFe3evXpk
